Studies and Soldiering

Geraint Jones studied History and Politics at Lancaster University. He was disappointed with the syllabus and avoided most of his lectures in favour of reading what interested him most – war.

At 23 years old Geraint deployed on his first tour of duty to Iraq. On his second he was awarded a General Officer Commanding’s Commendation “for his unselfish actions and bravery under extreme danger and pressure.” His third and final tour was to Afghanistan and formed the basis of his memoir Brothers in Arms (Macmillan, 2019).

Author

Geraint has penned more than twenty military-themed books, both fiction and non-fiction, including three thrillers with James Patterson. Geraint’s latest work, Voices of Victory (Macmillan, 2025) is a compelling and immersive account of a crucial period towards the end of the Second World War and was a Sunday Times Bestseller. He is also the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of D-Day: The Unheard Tapes (Macmillan, 2025) in which he explores powerful eye-witness accounts of The Battle of Normandy in 1944. His next work of non-fiction, Basra, will be published by Penguin in 2027.

Screen & Podcasts

Geraint’s writing for the screen includes MVP, a feature film produced by Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood (Hell or High Water, Wind River), and several pieces of his work have been optioned by major film companies.

As the host of the Veteran State of Mind and War Story podcasts, Geraint has interviewed hundreds of veterans spanning eight decades of conflict. The driving force behind these podcasts, and Geraint’s work at large, is Remembrance.
